Comparison Tests: Truck Side Mirrors vs. Rear Mounted Camera
The following tests were conducted as a comparison between standard truck style side mirrors versus our PRO-VISION® Rear View monitoring system. As described below, each segment shows the comparison at a different distance range. To see this comparison in action, please see the respective video clip by clicking the sreenshots at the bottom of the page.. |
Below we see the Mirror vs. Camera comparison at approximately 50 feet |
| Backing up is made easy, since the operator has a very clear view of what is directly behind. |
|
| |
| The operator's view is blinded by the restrictions of mirrors. Though he or she can see part of what is stationary behind, their vision is clearly obstructed. As you can see, the vehicle behind is barely visible. |
Below we see the Mirror vs. Camera comparison at approximately 25 feet |
|
At 25 Feet the stationary object ( a vehicle in this case) can no longer be seen at all. If this operator had not been paying attention or the vehicle had just pulled in; there would be trouble! |
|
| The stationary object is clearly visible with the assistance of the PRO-VISION® Camera. |
|
Below we see the Mirror vs. Camera comparison at approximately 0 feet |
| |
 |
Without getting out to look, our camera system brought the operator to the expected stopping point. |
| |
| |
At 0 Feet the operator's visibility for what lies behind is non-existent.
The driver is completely blind while backing up into your drive-way, a loading area, or any of a hundred other scenerios. |
All of us have gotten out of our vehicles only to find we're within inches of hitting a stationary object that somehow "Jumped out behind me!" |
| |
| With the PRO-VISION® Camera installed the operator has a very clear view of what is behind, even when within inches of the stop point. |

Note: See how within approximately 45 feet of stop point the operator relies completely on the monitor as the side mirrors become ineffective.
